Owls Pick Up 2-1 Win
|
Starting pitcher Angelo Stewart gave the Roseburg Owls a rock-solid effort. The Tamaqua, Pennsylvania native helped his team defeat the Everett AquaSox, 2-1, at Everett Memorial Stadium. The last-place Owls improved to 17-34.
Had Ernest Nelson not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Nelson hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Owls.
"We were in it," said Everett manager Johnny Stricklin. "We just didn't score enough runs."
