Simpson Leads Volcanoes to 8-4 Win Over Pippins
The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes beat the Yakima Valley Pippins, 8-4, at Volcanoes Stadium. Gavin Simpson, who is tied for 5th in the NWL in bases on balls with 26, starred for Salem-Keizer. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. With the win, Salem-Keizer upped its record to 27-24.

With Salem-Keizer leading 4-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Simpson hit a fastball from Max Unger for a 3-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Volcanoes ahead, 7-1.

"I don't lose sleep over a loss," said Simpson. "But I have better dreams after a win."
