Brewers Walk Off with 8-7 Win
|
Crowds lined up early in front of Kindrick Legion Field, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2052 Rookie Advanced season. On the mound was Paul Kolawole for the visiting Moose Jaw Diamond Dogs and Joseph Boonsook for the hometown Helena Brewers. In a spirited contest, the Brewers pulled out the win, defeating the Diamond Dogs by the score of 8-7. Especially impressive was Jackson Coulson.
Coming to the plate with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, Helena pinch hitter J.P. Ruiz had a chance to be the hero. Facing Moose Jaw pitcher George Whitman with the bases loaded, Ruiz hit a run-scoring single.
Ruiz told the Helena Observer: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."
