Pirates Stymie Welch, Take 4-0 Win
|
The Welch Miners and Bristol Pirates left the fans buzzing.
The Bristol Pirates beat the Welch Miners, 4-0, at Devault Memorial Stadium. Bristol third baseman Noel Kettenring had the hot bat. He went 1-2 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Earning his 1st save of the year was Miguel Perica.
Quinn Wyman had a big solo home run for the Pirates in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Bristol leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a fastball from Luca Boris and swatted a home run to center. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pirates ahead, 2-0.
In postgame remarks, Wyman applauded his team's "toughness."
The loss has the Miners at 4-4.
