Brewers Stick Miners with 9-4 Loss
|
Led by Shawn Wilson, the Helena Brewers defeated the Welch Miners, 9-4. Wilson went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for the Brewers. Picking up the win was Fred Meyer. He went 7.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. The right--hander struck out 6 and walked 2. Russ Stroebel earned the save for Helena, his 4th.
With Helena leading 5-2 in the bottom of the sixth, Wilson hit a fastball from Noah Nolan for a grand slam home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Brewers ahead, 9-2.
Wilson told the Helena Observer: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
The victory makes Helena 6-2.
