The Pulaski Yankees got a sterling performance from pitcher Van Schumacher, but the Harlan Smokies still prevailed, 9-2. Schumacher threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Irving Stevens, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 2.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. The setback makes Pulaski 8-17.

Harlan took advantage of an error in the top of the eighth inning. The game was tied, 2-2, when Antonio Infante hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Smokies in front, 3-2.

"We bring energy to every game," said losing manager Roarke Kapp. "But it's got to translate into wins."
