Stampede Nip Voyagers, 3-2
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Centene Stadium. But Cal Kooijmans conjured up just enough offense to carry the Stampede past the Great Falls Voyagers, 3-2. Kooijmans went 2 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Brent Charles earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. Scott Austin closed the game out for Medicine Hat, earning his 4th save.
In the top of the first of a scoreless game, Kooijmans hit a 2-run home run to put his team ahead.
Kooijmans attributed the win to his team's "hyper resolve."
Now 5-8, the Voyagers have not played well this season.
