Losing Streak Continues for Royals with 8-1 Loss to Smokies
|
Harlan Smokies starter Jake Haines had all his pitches working at Burlington Athletic Stadium. His stellar performance paved the way for an easy 8-1 Harlan win over the Burlington Royals. In 6 innings, Haines surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Early on, the Smokies, at 11-2, have put the pedal to the metal.
The outcome might have been different for Harlan, had it not been for Jonathan Hackl, the 22-year old third baseman . Hackl stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to put Harlan up, 8-1. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We had a nice day," said Harlan skipper Carson Lee.
