Kinston third baseman Jace Stephens contributed significantly to his team's 5-2 win over the Bluefield Blue Jays. Stephens went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Indians. Rodney Zhang, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. At 15-18, Kinston is in 7th place in the Appalachian League East Division.

Stephens had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 1-1 fastball from Axl Ayers, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Indians a 4-2 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Stephens.

"Whenever I help the team," said Stephens, "it sort of justifies my place on the roster."
