Mountaineers Nip Braves, 4-3
|
Danville pitcher Ethan DeMarest had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. DeMarest threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball, even as Erwin beat the Braves, 4-3. Brantley Corriveau, credited with the win, is now 3-3. He allowed no runs on 2 hits. Erwin now has a record of 12-9 with the win.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Erwin left fielder Sol Davin, facing Ezra Lombardo, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Mountaineers the 4-3 win.
"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Javier Mendoza, the Erwin manager.
