6 Hits for Frogs Calhoun
|
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 6-for-6 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Nathan Calhoun, it came around today.
The 22-year-old center fielder scattered hits all over Fayetteville Grounds to pace the 21-3 Fayetteville Frogs victory over the Kingsport Mets.
Kingsport skipper Blake Nelson told reporters in the press room that "Calhoun deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Calhoun hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Nathan Calhoun singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, walked in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Hernani Pérez in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
Calhoun is hitting .475 for the season with 7 home runs, 46 RBIs and 40 runs scored. He has 77 hits in 162 at-bats and played in 41 games.
