Mustangs Take Down Pioneers, 9-7
|
The Billings Mustangs downed the Pocatello Pioneers, 9-7, at Dehler Park. The Mustangs were led by Mariano Neri. He was 1 for 2 with a home run, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Clinton DeWit, now 1-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 2. With the victory, the Mustangs record now stands at 9-12.
Billings won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With no outs and Pete Lizardo on the mound for Pocatello, second baseman Cayson Chmielowiec hit a dramatic 2-run home run, bringing Mustangs fans to their feet.
"Now that's what I call an exciting game," said Mustangs manager Kyle Dodd.
