Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Blue Ridge Bulldogs and Burlington Royals.

The Blue Ridge Bulldogs clobbered the Burlington Royals, 12-1, at Burlington Athletic Stadium. Blue Ridge designated hitter Brad Vair led the onslaught. He was 2-2 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Woody Cunningham, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save.

In the top of the seventh, the Bulldogs grabbed the lead when Vair hit his 4th home run of the season. The grand slam home run off Leonardo Rios made it 4-0, Blue Ridge.

Said Burlington manager Howard Charles after the blowout loss: "They did pretty much every facet of the game better than we did and that's why we lost."

Blue Ridge's record now stands at 32-13, placing them first in the Appalachian League East Division.
