Blue Ridge beat Bluefield in a rain-soaked ballgame.

Blue Ridge pitcher Noel Ménard did his part in helping his team defeat the Bluefield Blue Jays, 6-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. At 42-15, the Bulldogs find themselves in second place in the Appalachian League East Division.

Blue Ridge won the game in part because of Art Nehrkorn. The third baseman ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Bulldogs ahead, 3-0. For the game, Nehrkorn had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.

"I just tried to stick to my strengths," said Ménard.
