Blue Jays Suffer 3-1 Loss to River City
|
The River City Rumblers and Bluefield Blue Jays completed their game despite the rain.
The River City Rumblers dealt the Bluefield Blue Jays a 3-1 loss at Ballpark of River City. Waylon Mathews was the star on offense. He went 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The triumph makes River City 20-41.
Mathews contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for River City in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 1-0, Mathews took a slider from Declan Soza and stroked the home run to right. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Rumblers to leap in front, 3-1.
"Nice to get this one," said Mathews. "Wins have been hard to come by."
