The Blue Ridge Bulldogs could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Harrison Hall into a win. Instead, the Kinston Indians prevailed, 3-1. Hall threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. Earning his 8th save for Kinston was Marques Bell. The Indians go to 35-27, putting them third in the Appalachian League East Division.
Kinston used the timely hitting of Tooru Kushihara to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Indians on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Kushihara.
