The Welch left-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Miners win. Hipkins yielded 1 run over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-1. Erik Nagel finished the game for Welch and earned his 13th save.

Alexander McNally had a direct impact on the outcome. McNally contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Welch up, 2-1.
