Red Sox Lose as Mountaineers Stage Late Rally
The Erwin Mountaineers defeated the Reidsville Red Sox, 5-4, in Appalachian League action at Reidsville Fields. Erwin pitcher Richie Johnson had a standout performance. Earning his 2nd save of the year was T.J. Thomas. The loss makes Reidsville 33-32.

Sahib Ali went 1 for 4 for Erwin. The 20-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Hayes Shaffer. It was his 3rd RBI of the season.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Erwin manager Eddie Wilbur.
