Twins Make It 4 Straight with 7-3 Win
|
The Elizabethton Twins withstood an impressive performance by Bluefield shortstop Luke Morris to defeat the Blue Jays, 7-3, at Joe O'Brien Field. Morris went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs. The Twins, at 51-18, sit in first place in the Appalachian League West Division.
Alex Graham had a big grand slam home run for the Twins in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Elizabethton leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from D.J. Sundown and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 4th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Twins ahead, 7-2.
"This team has the heart of a lion," said Twins manager Toby Staiano.
