The Blue Ridge Bulldogs and starting pitcher Bertrand Thompson stifled the Kingsport offense en route to a comfortable 9-2 win at Ballpark of Blue Ridge. Blue Ridge is sitting pretty at 47-22.

The Mets had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Bulldogs going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old left fielder Damon Gómez came to the plate. Gómez hit a 2-run double on a 1-0 fastball from Kingsport hurler Billy Joe Stephenson. It was Gómez's 5th double of the year.

"My job is to throw quality pitches, go as deep as I can, and give us an opportunity," said Thompson.
