Stampede Stop Mets, 4-2
|
The first-place Medicine Hat Stampede picked up another win.
Dedrick Allen pitched well, but his team, the Kingsport Mets, still dropped a 4-2 decision to the Medicine Hat Stampede at Ballpark of Medicine Hat. Medicine Hat reliever Jack Diaz picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Dedrick Allen took the loss. Scott Austin was called on to finish, recording his 13th save.
The Mets had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Stampede going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old catcher Dwayne Harvey came to the plate. Harvey hit a 2-run home run on a 1-2 changeup from Kingsport hurler Dedrick Allen. It was Harvey's 7th home run of the year.
"I'm proud of the way our guys played today to come out with this win," Harvey told the Medicine Hat Bulletin.
Medicine Hat is first in the Pioneer League North Division with a record of 24-11.
