Chiefs Take Tight Tangle
The Cheyenne Chiefs trumped the Medicine Hat Stampede, 5-4, at Ballpark of Cheyenne. Cheyenne first baseman Kent DePierro was terrific. He was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. The Chiefs, now 2-0, have hit the ground running this season.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Cheyenne left fielder Kyrie Kerr, facing Angelito Anchondo, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Chiefs the 5-4 win.

"I was a little disappointed," said Medicine Hat manager Brantley Johnson. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
