The Erwin Mountaineers overcame a fine performance by River City right fielder Declan Paula to defeat the Rumblers, 3-2, at Ballpark of Edmonton. Paula went 2 for 5 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Connor Halbig earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record is now 1-0. Erwin is now riding a 3-game win streak.
The most significant at-bat for Erwin came with the bases empty in the bottom of the 11th. Mountaineers second baseman Christian Kenville hit a solo home run to win the game.
"This place was rocking at the end," Kenville said.
