The Helena Brewers picked up a win at Ballpark of Calgary, knocking off the Calgary Cannons, 6-2. Starting pitcher Scotty Cox played a key role in the triumph. The winner was Cox. He threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Woody Mustapha. Ignatius Valdez finished the game for Helena and earned his 12th save.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Ricky Gilbert? The Helena catcher had a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Brewers on top, 3-2. For the game, Gilbert had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We have a lot of confidence in Scotty," said Helena manager Leon de Anda.
