Visiting Sock Puppets Beat Raptors, 7-6
|
With center fielder Chris Richardson leading the charge, the Burlington Sock Puppets defeated the Ogden Raptors, 7-6, at Lindquist Field. Richardson was 2 for 5 with 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. Burlington pitcher Geoff Fan got the win, upping his record to 1-1. Bailey Dial got the loss. Alex Gentle collected his 2nd save.
Had Randy Yates not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Yates hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Sock Puppets.
Yates told reporters after the game: "Took some doing, but we got it done."
Even with the win, the Sock Puppets have a dismal 14-26 record.
