Indians Clip Rays, 6-5
|
Sawyer Cox did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Tampa Bay Rays from being beaten, 6-5, to the Cleveland Indians at Tecumseh Field. Cox was 3-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Kyle Lipschultz, who finished 5th in the AL in saves with 31 in 2064, was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-3. The losing pitcher was Collin Dehghan. The win brings the Indians to 12-20, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
Cleveland took a 6-5 lead on William Kniceley's 8th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Kniceley hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Tampa Bay pitcher Mark Levy visibly frustrated.
"I had a good game," said Kniceley. "Winning makes it even better."
