Blue Jays Curb Indians, 7-2
|
The first-place Toronto Blue Jays picked up another win.
Toronto beat Cleveland on the strength of starter Alfonzo Jiménez's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 7-2. Brent Brown nailed down his 5th save.
The Blue Jays got an important contribution from catcher Mendy Pérez, who in the bottom of the first punched a 1-0 sinker into left-center for a 2-run double. It was his 11th double of the season and put the Blue Jays ahead, 3-0.
"We've got a great group of guys," Jiménez said, "and we're having fun right now."
The Blue Jays go to 32-7, putting them first in the Eastern Region North Division.
