García Leads Tigers to Win
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Detroit Tigers and Chicago Cubs.

Detroit defeated Chicago, 11-7, in large part due to 25-year old second baseman Oscar García. García drove in 5 runs. The second baseman had 1 double and 1 home run for the Tigers. Picking up the win was Matt Telecky. He went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. The left--hander struck out 6 and walked 1.

Detroit left fielder Van Sievers helped his team get ahead early. In the top of the first, with the bases loaded, he hit a sacrifice fly.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Sievers.

With the victory, the Tigers upped their record to 82-60.
