The Toronto Blue Jays overcame a fine performance by Montreal second baseman Shelly Banks to defeat the Expos, 7-6, at Rogers Centre. Banks went 4-5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Brent Brown notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 2 runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now sits at 9-2. With the win, the Blue Jays have a record of 93-50.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Toronto first baseman Zachary Dahdal, facing Joseph Fontain, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Blue Jays the 7-6 win.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Toronto manager Matt Martin.
