California Angels starter Theodore Mason turned in an exceptional performance against the Fresno Falcons at Savemart Center, resulting in a California win, 3-1. Mason, the winner, moves to 10-6. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 10 and giving up 2 walks. California, now 88-55, holds down second place in the Western Region Pacific Division.

The Angels had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 3-1, California, with no one out. Fresno, with the bases empty, was mounting a threat. Wendolyn Valdez dug in at the plate, but on a first pitch splitter, he flied out.
