Blue Jays Hold Off Expos, 4-3
|
The Toronto Blue Jays weathered a fine game by Montreal center fielder Hiroshi Takase to upend the Expos, 4-3, at Rogers Centre. Takase was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Toronto pitcher Hugo Paulino got the win. He's now 13-6. Billy Rivas was tagged with the loss. The save went to Vincent Prudhomme, number 16 for him.
The Blue Jays got a big at-bat from first baseman Zachary Dahdal. For the game, Dahdal was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Toronto a 4-3 lead.
"I like what I saw today," said Toronto manager Matt Martin, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
The Blue Jays bumped their record to 94-50 with this latest triumph.
