The San Francisco Giants beat the Seattle Mariners, 6-5, at T-Mobile Park. The Giants got a fine performance from first baseman Walt Shy, who went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. The win belonged to Chris Kazan in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Fulgencio Ochoa took the loss for Seattle. San Francisco raised its record to 86-59 with the win.

Shy had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 1-0 fastball from Fulgencio Ochoa, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Giants a 6-5 lead. It was the 16th home run of the year for Shy.
