The Seattle Mariners got a sterling performance from pitcher R.J. Luther, but the Philadelphia Phillies still prevailed, 5-3. Luther threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball. Philadelphia has now won 3 in a row.

Had Kyle Schultz not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Schultz hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Phillies.

"We need to keep playing good baseball," Schultz told the Philadelphia News.
