Tigers Drop 7-4 Decision to Expos
|
Detroit got a terrific game from shortstop Sal MacDougall. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Montreal, 7-4. MacDougall went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Justin Ayer snagged the win in relief. In 2 innings, the left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits. He's now 3-0 on the season. Zach Strain recorded his 13th save for Montreal.
In the bottom of the fourth, Montreal third baseman Brian Ottman had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Ottman stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 6-4, Montreal. For the game, he went 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Ottman, "one at-bat at a time."
The second-place Expos sport a record of 84-66.
