Mets Get Clutch Win Versus Toronto
|
The Toronto Blue Jays could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Dusty Sloan into a win. Instead, the New York Mets prevailed, 2-1. Sloan threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. The 4th-place Mets have won 4 in a row.
Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, 24-year old third baseman Barty Colleary had a chance to be the hero. Toronto pitcher Ashton Rial wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Colleary hit a sacrifice fly. The Mets had themselves a thrilling win.
Colleary said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
