Tigers Edge Past Blue Jays, 6-5
|
Despite a fine performance by designated hitter Jackson Kilsdonk, the Toronto Blue Jays lost to the Detroit Tigers, 6-5. Kilsdonk went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The loss makes Toronto 100-56.
Merlin Weichert drew 1 walk for Detroit. The 25-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring walk off Homer Covarrubias. It was his 8th walk of the season.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Detroit manager Hector Olvera.
