Mariano Guerrero led the charge as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Montreal Expos, 6-5, in 12 innings at Olympic Stadium. Guerrero went 4 for 6 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. The Cardinals, at 85-72, have now won 4 straight.

St. Louis used the timely hitting of Luther Broadnax to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Cardinals on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"Nice to keep our winning streak intact," said Guerrero.
