Toronto got a valiant performance from pitcher Cedric Blackwell, but it wasn't enough to beat the New York Yankees. New York won the game, 6-4. Blackwell threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs for the losing team. At 73-86, the Yankees are currently 4th in the National League Rivera Division.

New York used a timely hit from Jeronimo Guzman to get the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Yankees ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.

"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Guzman.
