BlueClaws Reel Off Another Win
|
Lakewood picked up a win at Lake Olmstead Stadium, toppling the Lexington Legends, 5-2. Pitcher Trevor Schmidt was one of the reasons the BlueClaws triumphed. Schmidt, now 5-4, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The 7th-place BlueClaws raised their record to 45-54.
In the bottom of the sixth, Lakewood left fielder Merlin Muramoto put his team on top. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit his 4th home run of the year. Lexington pitcher Conner Olsen served it up. Just like that, the BlueClaws were ahead, 4-2.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Lakewood manager Ben Schiappa.
