Catfish Clip Power, 2-1
|
The Columbus Catfish got a magnificent performance from pitcher Joel Corpeno, who muffled the West Virginia offense en route to a tight 2-1 Catfish win at Appalachian Power Park. Pedro Ramírez, now 1-7, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. R.J. Sousa earned the save, his 25th.
Columbus used a clutch hit from Jonah Walker to get the win. The center fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Catfish ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said West Virginia manager Gabe Moran.
Columbus is now 47-53. West Virginia is 51-49.
