Suns Tuck Away 4-3 Win Over Greensboro
|
The Greensboro Grasshoppers and Hagerstown Suns provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Hagerstown Suns picked up a win at NewBridge Bank Park, downing the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 4-3. On the mound for Hagerstown was left-hander Gavin Gillespie, who played a pivotal role in the win. Gillespie picked up the win for Hagerstown, going 7 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 4-6. Jonathan Byrne earned his 15th save, after closing out the game.
Hagerstown used a clutch at-bat from Matthew O'Neill to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Suns ahead, 4-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Gavin was doing a good job pouring in strikes," said Hagerstown manager Jackson Anthony.
The Suns improved their record to 35-62 by beating Greensboro.
