Suns Handed 5-0 Loss by West Virginia
|
The West Virginia Power got a stellar effort from pitcher Eliseo Velez, helping West Virginia score a win over the visiting Hagerstown Suns, 5-0. The Power sit in 5th place in the South Atlantic League Northwest Division with a record of 44-54.
Gabriel Alequin had a big 2-run triple for the Power in the bottom of the sixth inning. With West Virginia leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a splitter from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Pat Foster and swatted a triple to center. It was his 4th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Power ahead, 4-0.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Alequin told the West Virginia Today.
