Crawdads Sneak Past Tourists, 7-6
|
The Hickory Crawdads stopped the Asheville Tourists, 7-6, behind an impressive performance from Jon Copening. The 22-year old shortstop made life miserable for Asheville pitching. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the Crawdads.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Hickory third baseman Lucas Goss, facing Ross Allen, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Crawdads the 7-6 win.
"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Ernesto Chacon, the Hickory skipper.
