Phillies Take Down Indians, 5-4
|
The rain could not keep the home crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.
Behind the hitting of Josiah Mandel, the Philadelphia Phillies clipped the Cleveland Indians, 5-4. Mandel went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Phillies. The winner was Rob Taylor in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Cam Watson took the loss.
In the top of the first of a scoreless game, Mandel hit a 2-run home run to put his team ahead.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Cleveland manager Josh Mackin. "But we decided not to take it."
After today's action, Philadelphia sits at 22-23, while Cleveland falls to 22-23.
