Renegades Come Up Short at Salem, 4-3
|
The Salem Red Sox did just enough to secure a victory over the Hudson Valley Renegades, 4-3, at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Nolan Donovan. Donovan picked up the win for Salem, going 5.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 3-3. Cho-Liang Wei was credited with the save for Salem, his 6th of the season.
The Red Sox got a big at-bat from designated hitter Holger Mutonyi. For the game, Mutonyi went 1 for 3 with a double and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 9th double of the season gave Salem a 3-1 lead.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Mutonyi said.
The triumph makes Salem 33-69.
