Charlotte left fielder Shaun Platt had a good game, even if his team did not. The Stone Crabs dropped a 4-3 decision to Lynchburg at Charlotte Sports Park. Platt was 3-4 with 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Isiah Martin, the winning pitcher, improved to 8-4. He pitched 9 innings, giving up 10 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 2. The Hillcats are now 55-48, while the Stone Crabs fall to 58-45.

Rhett Larsen came through with a big-time hit for Lynchburg. The right fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

Larsen told a Lynchburg Citizen reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
