Hillcats Sneak Past Mariners, 7-6
|
Virginia Beach shortstop C.J. Masse had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Masse was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs, even as Lynchburg beat the Mariners, 7-6. Picking up the save was Owen Sargent, his 8th. Their 40-66 record puts the Hillcats 8th in the East Coast League Mideast Division.
In the top of the eighth, designated hitter Nacho De La Fuentes hit a run-scoring single to right. The single, which was hit off of Walter Castellano, gave Lynchburg a 7-6 lead.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said De La Fuentes.
