Hot Rods Turn Away Braves, 5-3
|
The Bowling Green Hot Rods defeated the Rome Braves, 5-3. Doing his part was catcher Nick Assenmacher, who was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Bowling Green reliever Elijah Mootz picked up the win, raising his record to 5-2. D.J. Alley was tagged with the loss. Bowling Green now owns a record of 55-47.
The Hot Rods got a big hit from left fielder Honesto Luyando. In the bottom of the fifth, Luyando pounded a 2-run double to left-center. His 11th double of the season put the Hot Rods ahead, 4-1.
Luyando told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
