Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Fireflies
People outside the ballpark no doubt heard the roar of the crowd as the winning run crossed the plate.

The 6-5 Columbia win over Kannapolis was due largely to Jimmy Lukefahr. The Fireflies shortstop went 2-5 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Columbia reliever Tillman Robinson picked up the win, raising his record to 2-1. Cortéz De La Cruz was tagged with the loss.

The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Columbia trailing 5-4, Lukefahr hit a sinker from Cortéz De La Cruz for a 2-run home run, giving the Fireflies the walk-off win.

"It's great when the crowd gets into it," Lukefahr said.

Columbia, now 47-58, holds down 8th place in the South Atlantic League Carolina Division.
