The Kannapolis Intimidators did just enough to secure a victory over the Columbia Fireflies, 4-3, at Spirit Communications Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Pluto Benedith. Cortéz De La Cruz collected his 29th save. The win gives Kannapolis a season record of 73-33.

Kannapolis used a well-timed hit by Chris Devine to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Intimidators ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

Devine called the win "a collective effort."
